David Tvildiani Medical University (DTMU)

In 1992/1993, the AIETI Medical School began its operations under the patronage of Academician David Tvildiani and Dr. Dimitri Tvildiani. It is one of the first private institutions of higher medical education in Georgia.

Since 2011, the AIETI Medical School has been renamed to the David Tvildiani Medical University (DTMU) in honor of Academician David Tvildiani.

DTMU (AIETI) is included in the WHO AVICENNA Directory for Medicine , and it is a member of the following international organizations:

• Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE)
• Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE)
• Organization for PhD Education in Biomedical and Health Sciences in the European System (ORPHEUS)

The AIETI Medical School at David Tvildiani Medical University offers a general medical faculty with two Master of Medicine programs.

• The first MD program is primarily designed as a systems-based program.
• The second MD program, e-PBL , is a newly accredited program developed within the framework of the ERASMUS+ project “Establishing a Trans-Regional Network of National Centers in Medical Education focused on PBL and Virtual Patients.”

The duration of the educational process is 6 years , divided into three stages:

1. Basic Medical Sciences (2.5 years)
2. Clinical Sciences (2.5 years)
3. Pre-diploma specialization (clinical training – 1 year)

The study programs fully align with the requirements of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).

The majority of graduates are employed in the medical profession, while many have successfully passed international exams (USMLE, PLAB, MCI) and are currently advancing their skills in hospitals and research centers in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden , and other advanced countries.
